  • Wednesday 16 February 2022 Year 4 Trip to the Mosque For our RE curriculum, our children went to visit the local Mosque to discuss the Islamic faith. The children learnt about the washing routine before pray and looked at the Qur'an and looked at Arabic writing. #respect
  • Wednesday 16 February 2022 Year 6 Trip to the Synagogue For our RE curriculum, our children went to visit Heaton Park Shul to discuss the Jewish religion. The children then had the opportunity to ask the Rabi questions to learn more about the culture. #respect
  • Wednesday 16 February 2022 M & M Pantomime M & M Pantomime The children had a fantastic time watching the pantomime, ’A Christmas Carol’ today by M & M Productions. The show was enjoyed by all children and staff (we even had a few teachers dancing!) #respect
  • Wednesday 9 February 2022 Children's Mental Health Week For Children's Mental Health Week, all classes participated in live, online workshops throughout the day. Workshops included topics such as positive touch massages, learning about how neurons make connections when we make mistakes so mistakes are cool, how mental illness doesn't define us and an art therapy session. Mrs Noonan also lead yoga and relaxation sessions throughout the day. #aspirations #integrity
  • Thursday 27 January 2022 Year 5 Trip to Ripon Museum The Year 5 children had a brilliant time at Ripon Museum linked to their topic, Crime and Punishment. They learnt all about what cells were like in the past and how they have evolved. The children learnt all about some well known local criminals. They explored what a courthouse was like and even participated in the ‘Stolen Horse and Cart’ Trial. They can’t wait to learn more about this exciting topic this term. #respect
  • Thursday 27 January 2022 Aspirational Visitor Last week, Years 3 and 4 had a special guest from Leeds University Arts, Humanities and Cultures Department, who is also a parent from the school, Dr Samuel Gartland who showed the children incredible coins all the way from Ancient Greece. We are all so grateful for his expertise and the experience to hold a piece of ancient history. Thank you. #aspiration
  • Thursday 27 January 2022 Sports Hall Athletics Final Fantastic effort from the Sports Hall Athletics team in the Pennine Sports final. The children did the school proud! The children’s behaviour was exceptional and they thoroughly enjoyed getting back to competitions #teamwork
  • Thursday 16 December 2021 Year 6 trip to Robinwood Wow—what an incredible time the Year 6 children had on their 3 day residential to Robinwood near Wrexham. The children showed real courage facing new challenges, enthusiasm for all the activities and the will to succeed in all they did! Huge thank you to all the staff who helped make it a very happy , successful trip. Congratulations to all the children who gave 100% and had a ball!!
  • Thursday 16 December 2021 Reindeer Run - Kirkwood Hospice The children had an absolute blast on their Reindeer Run. The pupils have done an amazing job raising funds for Kirkwood Hospice, thank you to all the parents for supporting the great cause and for all the staff who put on such an incredible effort. In total, we raised £1492.75 - What an achievement!#teamwork #respect

  • Tuesday 16 November 2021 School Lunches The kitchen staff went above and beyond with the school desserts and decorations in the Dining Room for Halloween and poppy buns for Remembrance Day.. The children thought it was fantastic and we can’t wait to see what they surprise us with next!
  • Tuesday 16 November 2021 Primary Maths Challenge Some of our pupils have participated in The Primary Mathematics Challenge (PMC) this week, which is a fun, interesting and challenging experience aimed at Years 5 and 6. Well done to those who took part. It was an especially hard challenge this year!
  • Tuesday 16 November 2021 Reading Rocks Assembly The whole school enjoyed the reading rocks assembly from one of our school parents. It was lovely to be introduced to a range of authors. It encouraged us to have lots of interesting discussions about authors and our favourite books. A brilliant poem to finish. Thank you #aspirations!   • Tuesday 16 November 2021 Remembrance Day It was lovely to see so many people down at the Cenotaph memorial. We were really proud of all the children; everyone was incredibly respectful throughout the silence. Some of the Year 5 children performed a song to commemorate the fallen soldiers. Another proud moment for us all on such an important occasion.
  • Wednesday 13 October 2021 Year 6 Mental Health Champions Last week, all our Year 6 children become Mental Health Champions. They learnt the importance of positive mental health and tips on how to support another person who is suffering. They also created calm jars which they thoroughly enjoyed.
  • Wednesday 13 October 2021 Cross Country Competition On Tuesday 28th September, MJS pupils travelled to Colne Valley High School to take part in the Pennine Sports Partnership cross country competition.
