Eco Council Collaboration

On Tuesday, our Eco Council linked up with Lily Lane Primary School, Manchester. Lily Lane visited our Eco Council and took part in a number of activities. This involved reading a short extract of Wordsworth’s nature memories from his childhood, including racing through the ruins of Furness Abbey with his friends, but remembering the beautiful song of a wren there. Then the children were shown 3 examples of descriptive nature observation phrases on cards I had done earlier. Putting the children into pairs and 3s with some from each school to make friends with, they set off round the grounds to find examples of their own. One example in the plenary was ‘The leaves danced in the wind’, as we distributed biscuits and squash in the outdoor classroom. The cards were retained by one of the Manchester teachers to feed into the following poetry workshop at some future date.
