Welcome to Year 4's page. A big 'HELLO' from Miss. Sharp, Miss. Hemingway and Mrs. Hughes. We are really excited to be working together with the support of Mrs. Abbott, Miss. Bamford and Mrs. Garside. On here, you will find information, homework and updates on what we have been doing in class.

Read at least three times a week with comments.

All children have a login in for Times Tables Rockstars. Every week the children will be set a battle between the two Year 4 classes. Let's see which class will win the battle?

All the children have a copy of their login details. If they lose them, please don't hesitate to email us.
All children have a set of arithmetic questions. They are due in on Thursday 14th March. There are spare questions in school if your child requires them.
All the children have a copy of their spelling list for the year. If they lose them, please don't hesitate to email us.
This week the children are learning 10 of the Year 3 and 4 Common Exception words. These are:
Practise writing your spellings out 3 times each. Then can you use each of your spellings in a sentence correctly?
This is due in on Friday 8th March 2019.
They attend meetings with the other school council members from across school to share ideas of their own their class' views and opinions.

Colne Valley Male Voice Choir - 07/03/19
The choir kicked off our world book day with their fantastic 4 part harmony. It was a pleasure to listen to them, and join in! If there any boys interested in joining, contact school for application information.
World Book Day - 07/03/19
Firstly, what amazing effort you put into your outfits. It was interesting to see which characters you chose! We looked at 'Doughnuts for a Dragon' by Adam Guillan. In the morning, we designed our own time machines and in the afternoon we created our own doughnuts!
Athletics - 05/03/19
We are learning lots of new skills and improving others including javelin, sprinting, relay, discus and long jump.
Badminton Skills - 09/01/2019
We had fun in our first lesson of badminton this week. We learnt how to hold a racket correctly and practised control using a balloon and the racket.
Christingle Service - 19/12/2018
We had a lovely afternoon at our Christingle service at St. Bartholomew's Church. Thank you to everybody who joined us there. A lovely end to a busy term.
Carols Sing-along - 18/12/2018
Tonight we had our annual Carol sing along. We had a lovely sing song of all of our favourite Christmas songs. The choir sang a few songs as well as a solo from Dan. Thank you for everyone who joins us at school for this.
Culture Day - 11/12/2018
For Culture Day 4RH were Germany. They found out all about Germans traditions, created their own advent calendar and made their own gingerbread man. 4ES/RH were Italy. They made their own Roman solider, learnt all about Le Befana and tasted traditional Italian food.
Forensic Science Day - 04/12/2018
We held our first Forensic Science day and it was amazing! We did various activities in school such as creating and testing electrical currents. We then became crime scene detectives and analysed a crime scene. We printed our own finger prints and made a foot print. Thank you to all the parents and carers who came into school and joined in with the fun.
Christmas Tree decorating - 30/11/2018
Today we have decorated our school's christmas tree. Our theme this year was 'The 12 Days of Christmas'. We were turtle doves and calling birds. We had a christmas story read by the staff, sang christmas songs and carols and hung all our decorations on the tree. It looks stunning!
World War 2 Open Event - 29/11/2018
Thanks to all of our parents and carers who attended our open event today. We had a great time doing various activities such as: making an anderson shelter out of lego, completing the World War 2 quiz, creating our own evacuee suitcase and more! We can't wait to invite you in again next term!
Children In Need - 16/11/2018
Today we raised money for Children In Need by coming dressed in our pj's and bringing in £1 donation.
Remembrance Day - 09/11/2018
We walked across to the war memorial at 10.45am to remember our war heroes. The Junior Leadership Team laid a poppy wreath, the School Council read a poem and we all sang the song 'Stand By Me'. We were joined by lost of parents/carers. We decorated the front of our school with poppies to show respect for those who fought for our country.
Harvest Festival - 26/10/2018
We enjoyed a great celebration at the Harvest Festival at St Bartholomew’s church this morning. It was very well attended and we feel very lucky to be able to enjoy our lovely local church. Thank you to those parents who helped us walk the children safely there and back, and to everyone who donated tins and packets of food. This was safely delivered to the Welcome Centre in Huddersfield who were very grateful for the much needed donations.
Mini Homework Projects - 10/10/2018
We had some fabulous projects brought into school today and we were all able to share them with our classes. Lots of questions shared to find out more about others projects.
Macmillan Coffee morning - 25/09/2018
We are thrilled to report that we raised over £500 for Macmillan during last week’s bun week. Well done and thank you to all those children and parents who baked. This amount of money will pay for eighteen hours of Macmillan nurse support which helps people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.
Garden Day - 25/09/2018
A massive thank you to all those who came to help on gardening day. It was a really enjoyable day and the garden is transformed! A special thank you to the kitchen staff who produced a wonderful lunch which was enjoyed by children and parents alike.
Roald Dahl day - 12/09/2018
Today was Roald Dahl day. Most of the children can dressed as their favourite Roald Dahl book character. We linked all today's activities with our class book of Matilda. We designed our own power, our perfect teacher and then painted our own versions of either Miss. Honey or Miss. Trunchbull.
Be Internet Legends - 10/09/2018
Today we had an assembly run by the #BeInternetLegends team from Google on online safety.
Kirklees Musica - 07/09/2018
Today music teachers who work for Kirklees Musica brought their instruments in to school to play for us. There was a variety of percussion, woodwind, brass and keyboard instruments that we were introduced to. Some of us were even luck enough to have a go at playing these instruments.
